Description: Create a spiritual montage poster using Photoshop. I chose a that phrase from the LDS hymn book because it’s one of my favorite songs.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Steps taken while designing): This project really focused on using layer masks to blend images together effectively. I started out with the background image of the ocean and clouds, with a lighthouse on the side. I didn’t like the way the lighthouse looked so I placed in a different image and blended it in. The only other picture I placed was the father holding his daughter’s hand. After all the images were formed together the way I wanted, I edited the levels, saturation, and color of the poster. I used several effects on the typography as well.
Message: God loves us and is always reaching out to us regardless of mistakes we’ve made. A father will always love his child. In a father’s eyes, we’ll always be a beautiful child. I also tried to apply some deeper symbolism to the message like Christ reaching into the water to save a drowning Simon Peter.
Audience: Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, focusing on parents. More specifically, this idea was inspired because of my grandma so I designed it with her in mind as my target audience.
Top Thing Learned: The simple effect of blending images together can form a professional looking advertisement. It’s a simple principle that will be highly useful in a career field. I also learned how to change the typography to make it look more professional.
Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied: I used the selection tool to highlight the ocean and increased the color in cyan, magenta, and blue. I did the same thing to the sky but I did the opposite colors to fade out the blue and purple colors. I decreased the saturation slightly for the entire image and increased the vibrance. I sharpened the lighthouse slightly and the father’s hand.
Color scheme and color names: Originally I was planning on analogous with blue, however, the hands had enough orange in them to make it a faded complimentary color scheme. Blue and orange colors.

I really like the message of your design. I feel that you did a good job blending the images. I did not realize that you used a different lighthouse in your image. Good job. I also like how clean the images are even though they are blended.
