Project 7 Web Page

Description: This is a web page to describe the process I used in creating the ‘Phoenix Publishing’ logo. We learned how to format the web page using html and css.

Process: First we established the code for the html. This included all the changes made to the text itself and the images placed within the web page. The rest of the design elements were created using css. I used a border and an outline using colors taken from the logo itself. I used the photoshop eyedropper tool to get the right codes. I established a background color and image and made sure the margins and padding was accurate. I put background colors on the text to provide more flavor to the design.

Message: The message I wanted to convey was that I can create a clean and effective web page. It also communicated my ability to utilize other design elements.

Audience: Potential employers that are looking for people with a basic knowledge of web design and coding.

Top Thing Learned: Everything was new to me with this project so I learned so much! I think the top thing I learned was the simplicity of using css. With only a few codes we can modify the page and make it look good rather than basic. I also liked the principle of an external link so that you can have two separate documents and modify them whenever you need to.

Color Scheme and Color Hexs: Triadic color scheme. Black:#000, White: #FFF, Yellow: #F8E928, Red: #E21E2B, Blue: #1E53A5, Lighter Blue: #cce5ff

Title Font Family and Category: Verdana or arial,  sans-serif

Copy Font Family and Category: Times New Roman or Cambria, serif

Changes made to the css: I added a list background with proper padding. I centered the logo using padding. All the colors were changed based on the logo. I added a border and an outline to the text. Added a background image and repeated it vertically.

Word Count: 252

Description: Design a stationery and a business card for a company. Create the logo in Adobe Illustrator and finish the rest of the project in Adobe InDesign.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used basic typography to write out the title in contrasting fonts. Then I designed the feather using the pen tool and chose a tertiary color scheme for the project. After I pieced the logo together I modified the ‘x’ to curve into the feather pen tip. I used basic tools like the shape tool to create the rest of the project in InDesign. I chose a phoenix picture online and made it really transparent for a watermark.

Message: Books will always be a part of our society. Whether they’re published online or in print, the demand for new stories will always exist.

Audience: Authors and Book Stores

Top Thing Learned: The most useful thing I learned was how to manage a folder in InDesign so that everything can stay together. I liked having one spot to go to for all the different aspects of the project rather than searching through a bunch of files.

Color scheme and color names: Tertiary – blue, red and yellow

Title Font Name & Category: Lucia (phoenix), Script; copperplate (Publishing and Stories Never Die), modern/slab serif
